A little story
So we are on the way home and I stop at the grocery store with my sister and kids in the van. I hop out and run in while they wait.
After I finish my quick shop I walk back to the van and see the front seat is empty and think: hmm the kids are probably grumpy and Naomi had to go into the back to help them. Then as I get closer to the van I realize that the babies seat is not where it usually is and I begin to panic. I start to hyperventilate as the unthinkable has actually happened, one of my worst fears. I slap my hands on the window and press my face into the glass as I realize that I HAVE FORGOTTEN MY BABY.
With my face pressed into the window I look at the other seats in the van and notice something peculiar, they are empty as well. I then notice a brown leather purse. I don't own a brown leather purse. There are no car seats in this car. I pull away from the window and look to the other side of the parking lot where my van is actually parked and I walk toward it.

When Ryan wants something now he always seems to need it and he will repeat that word. For example:
I need need juice.
or:
I need need need COOKIE!
I love that his language seems to be coming along more now. We have been somewhat concerned that he is behind for a while and I actually have an appointment with a Speach Language person for him. He does seem to be blossiming in his language though. He often comes up to me and smiles his little grin and just says "Hello Mommy" It makes me melt.
Unfourtunatley the more he talks the more he seems to have to argue with Breanna about. Fun times. Sometimes they play so great sometimes they just fight. Oddly enought I think they enjoy having a sparing partner.

Im feeling like I should blog.
Ok so Jon had surgery this week. He got out of the hospital today he is tired and sore but otherwise recovering well. He expects to go back to work after the Easter weekend in April. It has been a very busy week for me and the kids involving babysitters and driving back and forth from the hospital to see dad. I have hardly been home so I have not been blogging or checking blogs till today. A big thank you to everyone who watched my kids or helped with meals and everything that people have done to make this week a little easier.

Happy Anniversary to us.
I'm not too good with surprises. When I am excited about something I have a hard time keeping it in. Well I have tested myself this year and managed to pull it off. Pretty much everyone knew about it but the one person who I needed to keep it from didn't: Jon. And as long as he was surprised that was all that matters.
Mid January I booked a room at the Fantasy land hotel for our anniversary (OK about a week after our anniversary). I had never been away from the kids over night except when I was in the hospital having a baby. Jon even suggested a couple of weeks later that we do something like that and I had to clench my fists grit my teeth and tell him I was not ready to leave Skyler over night yet. I lied to him when I told him his sister was coming into town and he needed to get the day off. I lied to when I told him I would call her the day before and see when they were getting in. I lied to him when I told him she was not feeling well and might not be able to come ( I was trying to keep him from getting Breanna excited about them coming). I lied to him when he called to see how long it would be before we picked him up from work. I told him we were just leaving my sisters work when I was really at home dropping my kids and sister off.
I actually feel kind of guilty reading that. I'm really not a pathological liar!
The look of confusion on his face when he got in the car was priceless. I told him that my sister had said she would watch the kids for the evening and we could do whatever we wanted. When we got to the parking lot at the mall I accidentally took the wrong ramp. I said I should have gone down and he asked why. "because that is where the front desk sign says" he was so confused. Then he was like "you don't have a hotel room booked!" Why yes I do. It was great I totally surprised him twice in one day.
We had the greatest time. We went to dinner, went window shopping, hung out in the hot tub, went on a midnight walk through the mall and across the street with no jackets for chicken nuggets only to discover that McDonalds was closed, had nachos from room service at 1 in the morning, slept without kids to wake us up and had a nice breakfast before we went home the next morning. I cant wait to do it again.

24more. Only 53 left.
- When I was a kid, one night I woke up and was convinced that there was a dog on the end of my bed. I was absolutely petrified I couldn't even move. We didn't even have a pet at this time. Finally I got up the courage to run across the hall to my parents room. They told me to turn on the light and It turned out that it was a stuffed animal thing I made at girl guide camp.
- We made those stuffed "animals" twice they called were called a Zebu. The big one was blue and I named him George and the little one was purple and pink and I named it "Cute stuff.
- The first car I ever drove was a white Nissan Micra
- When we were young and on road trips when we would see bits of rubber on the road we would yell "THERE THERE" a throw back from the days when my dad worked at the Firestone factory.
- Me and my brother one night for no reason we can remember took a metal bucket and filled it with stuff from the kitchen: spices, food colouring. spaghetti... We dumped it in the back yard by the swing set.
- I told my grade jr high music teacher to "mind (her) own business". One of the kids in the class was bugging me and I never thought the teacher liked me so I didn't want to talk to her about it. That is the only time in my childhood I remember being rude to an adult. (except for perhaps the occasional disagreement with my parents)
- I once told my dad something like even though I did not always like the decisions he made I knew he did it because he loved me and wanted the best for me. I should never have said it, never let me forget it :)
- When I was young I never related well to kids my own age. I'm scared to have teenagers.
- I want my kids to learn to be nice to other people and have a good honest work ethic.
- Sometimes I am easily startled
- I love the Internet. When there is something that I hear about and am curious or there is something I don't know I Google it. I like to learn about things.
- My dad always took us to the train museum and places like that as a kid. I loved it because he always knew so many little things about what he was showing us. I want my kids to like going to places like that.
- Sometimes I have this possessive competitive streak but I usually try to control it when it happens. I don't like it.
- I am so grateful for my friends.
- I couldn't imagine the world with out the family that I have.
- My grandmother on my moms side was not a great cook but there were occasionally things she would make that I miss. She made this rhubarb upside down cake type of thing and you would eat it warm with mild poured over it. If I had it offered to me for the first time now I don't know if I would like it. I would love a piece now.
- Me and my mom got our ears pierced on the same day. We did it at the Merle Norman in Heritage mall. My grand mother on my dads side was with us I think.
- I played the trumpet in high school.
- There is someone I have not talked to in years I would like to again I think but I'm not sure how
- I'm listening to the song "Two Beds And A Coffee Machine" by Savage Garden. It is so pretty but sad.
- Other then when I was like one and a half and went to Quebec with my parents, I have taken off in an airplane 7 times and never landed.
- I love the sound of the wind flapping in a parachute. And the look of the world a couple thousand feet up.
- I remember soaking my hands in warm water in the bathroom sink when I was younger. My mom always did it. It felt so good.
- I went through a long period of time when I was in high school when I would never sleep in my bed. I heard mice in the wall one night and it really bothered me. I would sleep on the couch or the chair in my moms office. My brother would always try to get me to go to bed in my room. I remember sneaking around and trying to sleep somewhere he could not find me. I didn't tell anyone why I would not sleep in my bed. I remember trying one night and I couldn't do it. After a while we switched bedrooms around and I moved down stairs and started sleeping in my room again. I am not sure if I ever told them why. Looking back it was such a little thing but it was a huge thing to me then.

23 weird and or completley irrelevant facts about me
- when I was growing up I had a neighbour that as born on the same day in the same hospital as me her name was Becky
- I have a scar on my shoulder that looks like a bug
- I have always wonderd what would happen if you fell into a vat of jello and got stuck halfway into it, would you be able to swim out?
- I dont like centipedes and milipedes the gross me out
- When I was in elementary school I used to walk home. I had this thing that if I stepped on a crack in the sidewalk I would be in another dimension so I would have to go back and step on it again to get back in my own. I knew it that it did not actualy happen but I still felt the need to go back anyway.
- I think I have borderline obsessive compulsive tendensies. I have to check the stove a million times before I leave the house to make sure I did not leave a burner on. I often run back and make sure I locked the door.
- I probably would not be quite so neurotic about those things If I was not so forgetful. Everytime I seem to get over it a little bit I forget something and it starts all over again.
- I have an amazing ability to do something like put something down and 10 minutes later have no idea what I did with it.
- I repeat myself a lot especially when I have good news.
- I like to talk on the phone too much.
- I like having people around me I work better with other people around.
- When I was a kid I asked a blind lady if someone punched her lights out. I think it was at temple square in Salt Lake City. I dont think I was trying to be rude or flippant but I dont know why I asked.
- I once met a guy who had a crocodile or a cayman or something in his basement.
- I repeat myself a lot especially when I have good news.
- Everyonce in a while I will talk in my sleep but I remember doing it and when I ask Jon in the morning what I said is usually different then what I thought I said.
- I dont like my feet, I need a pedicure.
- I alwas kick my shoes off and sit cross legged in resturants and pretty much anywhere else. I have a really bad callous on the outside of my left anckle because of it.
- I like the smell of a new babies breath
- I took a year of university and spent too much time playing pool.
- I dont like driving by myself at night.
- When I eat a piece of pie I always take a bite or two of the point then eat the back end with the crust then finish the pie that way you start and end with the best part.
- I once left a grilled cheese sandwich in the sandwich maker for a few hours. Then I unplugged it and put it away. I did not realize till like a month later that I had completley charred a sandwich.
- When I was much younger I did a similar thing with a pot of perogies. mind you they were not left undiscoverd for a month.
thanks to Nikki's sister for this idea! I think I am tapped out for now perhaps I shall continue this another day as I am sure there are more.

duh!
So the other night I was out with some friends and I noticed that Lara had a blue stone on her engagement ring. A saphire. I asked her about it being the curious person that I am. She went on to explain how her husband had decided on the saphire and how he totaly suprised her when he asked her to marry him. I sat entranced in the story right up until the point when I asked her.
"Did you say yes?"
They laughed at me

2006
Good year for everyone. I was trying to think of an amazing poetic post to end the year with. But that is not easily forthcoming so I will briefly recap events for everyone in the family.
Jon
Jon finished his two years at Grant Macewan with an accounting diploma. He began working for Canada Revenue training as an auditor. He is enjoying his job and really getting into the swing of it. He continued getting into dragon boating this year and Joined a new team that took him to a couple of new meets including one in Sylvan lake and one in Kewlona.
Breanna
Breanna turned four this year and got out of diapers (yay yay yay) she is going to preschool at the ymca and loves it. She is excitedly looking forward to kindergarten next year.
Ryan
Ryan turned two. He has decided that talking may be a cool thing to do after all. He is still learning to form his words properly but that does not stop him from trying! We took him to a pediatric opthamologist because of a crossed eye and he got glasses due to farsightedness.
Skyler.
Skyler was born Oct 14 and has just in the last few days really learned to smile and those are huge things for a baby!
Me
Well at the beginning of the year I was still working part time as a cashier but that ended in march I think. I was pregnant for a while but not anymore :) I took a photography class in the fall and I loved everysecond of it and am still enjoying taking photographs. I feel I have found a creative outlet that I can relate to.
We are excited for 2007 and the changes and growth it will bring so we shall se where we are in another year!!!!

Kid Logic
Breanna: Mom can we make these right now (holding the rice krispies)
Me: No we will make them later
Breanna: Can I have a marshmallow?
Me: No not right now
Breanna: Can we make them right now if you let me have a marshmallow?
How does this work does any one else understand this?

Breanna: Dad you need to push us in the swing
Dad: Why?
Breanna: Because that's what parents do for their kids!
Later on the swing
Breanna: Your doing it dad! Your doing what parents do for their kids!!

Handy Hubby
So we are in lethbridge for the weekend. The kids are loving being with grandma and grandpa. And the aunties are especially loving being with the new baby. IT has been fun especially since the car decided to have issues once we got here. We are very grateful that it waited till lethbrige and did not decide to go when we got on the road.
Last night Jon and I were coming back from seeing "The Prestige" (excelent movie by the way) when the the power steering went and the battery light came on. We made it back to Jon's parents and he managed to steer the van into the driveway. As he looked under the hood he discoverd that the tension pulley had gone. It is a pulley that provides tension on the belt that drives the alternator, the water pump, the power sterring and some other important things. Basically with out it we would have ended up stuck on the side of the highway.
Thankfully It is something that Jon can fix by himself. Yay! He has saved us so much money on mechanic expenses since we got married. He has already got the replacement pulley we just need to get a bolt to replace the one that Jon had to cut when he was taking the pulley off which is a story in itself. Anyway hopefull we can get the bolt tomorow and get the car back together and get home tomorow as planned!!
So I hope everyone is having a good weekend in edmonton. And hopefully we will be home tomorow!

Please dont shoot!
Kari-Lynn and I went to wal-mart the other day with Skyler. It was pretty chilly outside. When we walked in the door the greeter lady told us how happy she was that we had bundled up the baby she said:
"Some parents bring their babies in without hats or warm coats or anything. It makes me want to take out my mommy gun and shoot them."
She seemed quite over zealous. But I was glad I passed the test. I felt a little smug. (ok so I am a shameless glutton for aproval. I know, but hey that is another story)
We were together at walmart again the other night. It was cool but not that cold out. As we walked out the door I flipped the blanket thing over top of the baby but I was not too picky about it. Then walmart lady leans over the cart as she says:
"O thats not very well covered up!"
I said something about covering him up more before we went through the second set of doors. Then she asked to see a reciept for our purchases as we had not put them in bags.
Yup last time I was responsible this time I am a parent who does not cover her baby well and steals baby wipes and formula!

Kings and Criminals
Ryan was trying to sneak away from the table with his macaroni and cheese today I stopped him once. Minutes later he was at it again. I saw him in the hall way and told him to bring it back. He paused for a moment and responded NO and ran into the living room. I caught him just as the plate spilled all over the floor. As I was cleaning it up I noticed Breanna arranging her chair with a can of pop on either side. She said.
"Im the king and those are the servants that go by my throne"
My son is practicing for a life of crime and Breanna is having delusions of grandeaur. Hmm I dont know which to worry more about.

Counting Down
So Im at 38 weeks tomorow. This baby is a reality. Wether I am ready for it or not I could be having a baby almost any time. So make your guess. My due date (according to the ultrasound) is October 21st. Jon thinks it will be soon as the Braxton Hicks are becoming more frequent. I refise to have the baby before next friday though. I want to finish my class. Breanna and Ryan both came a couple days after their due dates so we will see. Any way leave Your guess for the date and gender in the comments box and the closest guess wins............ well pretty much the satisfaction of being right.

Because thats the way it works.
Today is the first day of Fun Factory at the YMCA (their playschool) for Breanna. Guess what. She is sick. The kid has not been sick all summer and today she wakes up with a runny nose and coughing. Great. Lets pray for a cure to the common cold by lunchtime.

Just dont call me late for dinner
I have a new identity. Mompaa. Breanna just started calling me this. I tried to stop her at first because it really bugged me. Then I realized I was in a bad mood and just being a pain and I said ok. I thought it would kind of last a day and wear out. Not so much. She likes the name and it seems to have stuck. Although Ryan has not jumped on the band wagon. I dont know where it came from though, maybe it was on a tv show or something.
Today I thought I heard another kid calling Mompaa to their parent and deep down inside I thought. "hey Im Mompaa no one else gets to be Mompaa!"

Siblings
I had just put Ryan down for a nap and I was occupied doing something when he called out from his crib. Breanna informed me he was calling and I told her to leave him because he needs to have his nap.
Moments later Ryan calls again and I hear Breanna call to him in her most bigsterly tender voice.
"I know you want mommy Ryan but your big sister is coming"
I could have melted. Breanna went upstairs to his room. I heard the door open and Ryan moving around in his crib. Up I went expecting to find her in the room playing with him. When I got there his door was closed, he was quiet and she was in her own room. So I asked her if she went in to see him.
"Yeah and I made him warm with a blanket."
I peeked in his room and saw him lying down again with a tiny baby blanket across him.
Anyone who knows Breanna knows of her love for her stuffed Monkey. If Breanna is heading for bed and forgets her monkey Ryan will grab him and come running to the bottom of the stairs to bring her Monkey because he knows it is important to her.
They yell at eachother and fight a lot right now. Most recently Breanna has begun to learn the fine art of name calling. So far I have heard her call him. Dummy Garbage, little cootie and my personal favourite: scurvy bones. But in spite of it all I know they love each other. Moments like these remind me that yes we can handle the third baby that will join our family in a little while here. And yes they do love each other. And if I can just remember to hide the peanut butter for the next few years I might just make it through.
(if you are wondering about the peanut butter ask me again in a few years and I might be ready to talk about it)

Me: Well dont hit him! Pretend there is another one! (or at the very least pretend to bonk him!)

Big Events
Ryan is having surgery tomorow. Nothing major. He will be put under but will likley be home by noon. I am nervous for my little guy. He does not know what will be happening but It is not something he would understand. Breanna knows something is happening and she tells Ryan not to worry that we will be there with him. Man she can fight like the dickens with her little brother but at the same time be so nice too.
Kari-Lynn may be having her baby in the next day or two. Unfortunatly I may not be able to see him right away because I will be pretty occupied tomorow.
Well here is to babies that come soon and surgeries that go well!

To wich I respond.
"No thats not your Daddy, thats Tiger Woods"
I didnt see any possible family resemblance but maybe he did.

The ants go marching two by two....
Our house is over run by ants. I think they might be under the front step or something but I am not positive. They are everywhere.
I was on the phone with my sister-in-law last night telling her about our invasion. Breanna was standing right beside me listening so she pipes up.
"I like to make ants die".
Im not sure if I should be worried about this or not.

Near the beginning of our marriage Jon still had the camera he took with him on his mission. He went hiking in the mountains with a friend of his. Curtis took a picture of Jon who was standing by a cliff. Then he tossed the camera over to Jon. It hit Jon's fingers and rolled off. It bounced once. It bounced again. Then over the cliff it went never to be seen again.
Today Jon is on a day trip to Jasper with some missionaries. I let him take my camera. I instructed him very specifacly. NO THROWING THE CAMERA OFF A CLIFF!!!
So here is to a safe trip. Oh yeah and Jon I hope you come back too.

June Happenings
- Jon is working now and we are getting used to having a normal schedule again.
- Our washing machine broke down a week ago, it kind of makes me feel like a normal grown up. I get to call my first appliance repairman for my self. Not that I have not had to have things fixed before but this is the first one that I have to do all by myslef because the washer and dryer is mine and not owned by who we rent from. Until we get it fixed we are usining our little aparnment washing machine that hooks up to our sink. Since it is not in the basement I find our main floor is getting taken over by piles of laundry. I cant wait till that is over. Hopefully we will have a repair person in by the end of the week.
- Jon's laptop hard drive decided to die this week which is sad because I do not have all my pictures backed up. Many of them especially the old ones are on my computer but there are some that were taken since I got my new camerea that I wont get back that makes me sad. I have learned my lesson now though. Back your pictures up to cd!!!!! The lap top screen also has had some pixels going on the screen for a while so it has been sent off to get both problems fixed. It will probably be about three weeks till it is finished. Until then I am back on my dinosaur of a computer.
- I get my ultrasound In about 2 weeks yay! We will get our first look at the next member of the family. I have realized that although I think a suprise would be cool if they can tell us what the baby is, I will probably find out because I cant wait. Maby the baby will be shy and wont show anything.

Swimming
We took the kids to toddler time at the water park. The love it. The wave pool, the kiddie pool, the hot pool. One thing is for sure I dont have children that are afraid of the water. In fact if I did not know better I would swear they had fish DNA. Im sure they would grow gills if they could.
An outside observer would see Ryan in the waves and wonder where the poor childs parents are. The kid would stand in waves that would wash right over his head (by a good 6 inches at least). Out he comes on the other side all smiles and ready for the next one. Or he is diving head first again and again. The kid is crazy I dont know where he gets the chance to breathe.
Breanna is nuts. She has no problem putting her face in water. The problem is geting her out of the water. She likes to dive in swim around, come up for air for a second and is right back under water.
Breanna was playing in the waves and she lost her footing and a couple of small waves came one after the other. So I grabbed her and put her on her feet again. I said Breanna are you ok? I expected a couple of gasps and her to say: "yeah mom"... uh no, she looked at me and said. "Where do rabbits live" yeah the kid was fine. Maybe she already has gills after all.

sigh
- If we tell you we cant sell the display model when we still have the item in the box. Dont bre sarcastic and ask me if I want to come and set it up for you! HELLO of course we dont want to set it up for you that is why we dont want to sell the display model because as soon as you take that we have to put another one together! (ok maybe not me but one of the boys will)
- Actual phone call
Me: hello xyz store
Lady: Hi I bought a scale and it is not weighing the way I want it to I was wondering if I could bring it back.
Me: (pause) there is a thirty day exchange if there is something wrong with it.
(this is the kind of exchange you joke about but seriously who would do it!)
turns out she needed it to be more accurate for medical purposes makes so much more sense now.
- Chances are if the boxes are taped shut and there are signs that say "please do not open the packages" we actually do not want you to open the packeges. That is why we usualy put a demo item on display. No we are not trying to trick you that is really what is in the box. Oh and why when there are already 20 million open boxes of an item must you open one more!

Its all in a name?
John Ducey Park - Telus Feild
Northlands Coliseum - SkyReach - Rexall place
The Convention Center - Shaw Conference Center
Capilano Drive - Wayne Gretzky Drive
Calgary Trail North - Gateway Boulevard
Fantasy Land - Galaxy Land
Klondike Days - Capital EX
Mayfair Park - Hawrelak Park (ok so I dont even remember it being called Mayfair but I included it in my list anyway)
What is with changing names? I still slip up and say names like fantasy land and Calgary trail north. What is summer going to be like with out Klonkike days? Its not like Im not good with change I can handle it but it confuses my tounge really. It is not like I decide to change my childrens names halfway through their lives or something.
Thats all I have to say about that.

This that and another thing
- Absolutly loving: Homemade strawberry freezer jam. MMMM so good thanks Nikki.
- We are just waiting for Jon to start his new job at Canada Revenue. They are starting 8 of them and they all have to prove that they passed their program then everyone can start.
- Im loving the weather I cant wait to get out and do some camping and picnics and stuff
- I have been officaly arrested by some neigbourhood kids for "suspicous behaviour" apparently taking pictures of rocks and flowers is suspicous. Im under house arrest for tow days. I can only go out when they are at school. Yeah right. They keep knocking at my door and giving me warnings and stuff. It was funny at first but it might get old fast.
- 24 and a half weeks to go until baby arrives.
- and that is about all that I can think of that is interesting right now. (ok maybe it is not that interesting but it is all I have)

Miracles of parenting
Breanna: I need a new brother this one dosent listen
I got down and explained that sometimes she dosent listen either but we still love her and we still love Ryan. I explained that she could help teach Ryan by showing him how to listen and do things.
Then the most amazing thing happend. She started picking up toys and said: "Ryan we need to clean up the floor!"
It was amazing.
It was wonderful. I had the awnser to all of Breannas problems.
I had finaly found the secret of good behaviour.
It lasted all of 15 seconds.

To the beat of a different drum
I have felt the occasoinal rare flutter in my chest. Friday it was anything but rare or occasional. I began to take my pulse and could feel a definate disturbance when the flutter occourd. To make a long story short after 12 hours in an emergency room (9 of wich I spent waiting room) and a couple blood tests they sent me home and told me not to worry about it. Unless it happens with dizzyness or fainting or chest pains. Woo Hoo. I guess it is not abnormal to have palpitations during pregnancy. They just want to rule out other complications first.
So right not I feel like I have had the hiccoughs for 3 days. Mild mind you and in a different place they do they stop for a time and then they are back. It feels like my heart goes:
lub dub..lub dub..lub dub..lub dub.............LUUUUB dub..lub dub..lub dub..lub dub..lub dub..lub dub.........LUUUUB dub.
so im supossed to be trying to sleep right now but laying down not doing anything else they have become obvious to me. You know when something becomes annoying and if something distracts you it dosent bother you anymore? So you try to ignore it. It is like trying not to think about pink elephants. (dont think about pink elephants, dont think about pink elephants) you know what you are doing? Thinking about not thinking about pink elephants so in effect you are doing what?.......
Thats Right!!!! Thinking about pink elephants.
So as I left I asked the doctor: "if this keeps happening should I do anything?"
Yeah no only if I feel dizyness or chest pain blah blah blah.
I dont take my heart for granted right now. It is something you never pay attention too. Maybe it is just saying to me "Hello im here dont forget about me!" Im glad it is still working but it is like it is on a work to rule campagain rather then a full fleged strike.
So here it is. I LOVE YOU HEART! thanx for all the great work you have done all my life. You are the wind beneath my wings and I love you!!!
So everyone say thank you to your heart today.

A phone conversation
Heather: You should come to Edmonton for your birthday this year. That way you might be here when the baby gets here!
Tara: Yay!
Tara: Hey Mike (her husband) guess what Heather is getting me for my birthday
Mike: (in the background) what?
Tara: A BABY!
Mike: Could you keep that one over at her house?

Revisiting my childhood
I like to colour, it is relaxing. Having children one tends to have crayons and colouring books handy. Breanna got a Caillou colouring book from her grandma. Today I was colring a picture of Caillou looking at a fish bowl. As I was colouring the fish a decidedly orange colour I looked at the top of the page and read the caption.
"Caillou likes to watch the red fish"

4 days and counting
4 days left till we move. Still a lot of work to do, but we are not doing too bad. Except today was almost complete write off. Suprise we have sickness again. It seems this year has been a parade of ilness the kids always seem to be catching something. Colds, fevers, ear infections, coughs. Today we have the stomach flu. So far it is me and Ryan. Im pretty much over with it and I did not get too bad but poor Ryan has been afflicted with it on both sides, If you know what I mean.
I dont want Jon to get it, but if he is going to get it I want it to be now so he will be better by the time we move.
Here is hoping we are happy, healthy and packed on moving day!

Worst thing I did yesterday, and the dumbest.
I accidently went to work with Monkey in the car. Breannas bestest most faviorite stuffed animal. A matted and well loved gorilla. She always says she cant sleep without him but It has never been a problem because he is always there. Well last night it took her a very long time to get to sleep.
Breanna: Daddy can I make a wish.
Daddy: Yes you can.
Breanna: I wish that monkey was here with me.
Then she made another wish.
Breanna: I wish that Abby was here so I could play with her.
When I heard this story from Jon it just made my heart break for her. I wish I could bring Abby back.
Our cable was out for a significant portion of the day yesterday. It was for everyone betwenn 10th ave and 34th ave and between calgary trail and 111st. Anyway I am at work and I called home to check up and Jon said the cable was still gone. After I get off Im like oh no L O S T is on tonight I cant miss an episode of L O S T. So I call my friend to she if she can record it for me. Well she is busy and I get her husband, I leave a message about what I wanted and reminds me that today is in fact tuesday. L O S T is on wednesday. Great not only do I look stupid but it is in front of the friends husband..Yeah real genius here. Our cable came back on sometime in thie middle of the night yesterday,

At work, again
Two guys come through my till, very nice. They chat with me and the lady behind them. Moments after they leave the lady realizes that one of them has left behind his cell phone. We call out to them at the door and he comes back and picks it up. At wich point he drops a five dolar bill for the lady and tries to leave. The lady tries to say no to the small reward and chases the man out the door. He of course fends off the five dollar bill being shoved back at him. The lady wins and manages to get it back in his hand and tells him to donate it to an animal shelter or something. This all happend amid laughter and the best of intentions of course.
Hey if you are going to fight over it I will take the five dollars!
Later a guy comes through my till i have never seen before in my life. He is buying a DVD player,
Guy: Do I get a staff discount?
(yes I give everyoine I have never met a staff discount)
Me: Uh do you work here?
Guy: Yeah I work at the north store
Me: I gotta call Bobbi for that.
Guy: Dont worry about It im in a hurry it is so cheap anyway.
Me: are you sure?
Guy: yeah I gotta go.
I begin to ring through the purchase.
Me: did you just start?
Guy: Yeah what is our discount like 10 percent or something?
I start to tell him what it is but decide not to tell him exactly, the whole thing just seememd weird. I finish the purchace and he starts out the door without his reciept or change.
Guy: Dont worry about that.
Im not sure if he is talking abou the reciept or the two dollars change.
Me: Dont you want your reciept? (if you work there you should know you cant exchange without your reciept)
guy: Uh yes I guess I do.
He leaves. Ok it all just seememed not quite right, I dunno maybe he does work at the north side store but why wouldnt he buy the stuff there and why would he not ask his boss there about his discount instead of someone who dosent even know him at the other store?

Shane
When I was single and attending the singles ward me and my brother and I used to drive someone to church all the time. At first we started driving him because the people who used to drive him were no longer able too. It stayed that way for a long time I think because he became comfortable with us. He was a little out of the way but my father when we were young would always drive people who didnt have a car to church so we did aswell. Sometimes it was annoying but really i didnt mind being a car pool. We drove Shane to church for a few years until I got married and I believe my siblings continued to drive him after that.
Shane had names for everyone. He would take your name and make some sort of play on words with it. When Jon and I were dating he became "Jon the toilet" another girl was "Jen the pen". For a long time I was "Hey Heather how's the weather". Well one day at work someone I worked with joked about how Heather and Leather rymed and called me "Black Leather Heather". Shane heard this sometime later. He thought it was hilarious and embraced it. Black Leather Heather was immortalized. That is what he called me from then on.
I remember when I was going through a tough time Shane could tell if I was having a bad day. He would write me a note telling me how wonderful I was and how he appreciated me. When he would do that I always knew that he meant it. They were so sweet and touching. Honestly I would be lying if i said he never drove me crazy because he did sometimes. When I think about it I cant remember many of the things that frustrated me but more of the things that made me laugh.
He would talk to anyone and try to cheer them up. He would laugh and joke with anyone. He would create a name for everyone. I kind of wish I rememberd more of the names he used.
I just learned that Shane passed away last night. He had epilepsy and had a seisure that stopped his heart. I have only seen him a handful of times since I got married. Im sad that I wont see him again for a long time. I explained to my daughter today that I was sad because one of my friends went to live with Heavenly Father and I wouldnt see him for a long time. Im happy as well because I know that is where he is.

Happenings at work.
Ring Ring
Me: Good afternoon XYZ Store
Lady: I heard about your store from a friend what do you sell?
Me: We sell a whole variety of items mam.
Lady: Well, what do you sell?!
(what does she want a list of EVERYTHING?)
Me:Well we sell electronics like tvs and stereos, kitchen wares, telephones vacuum cleaners...
Lady: You sell vaccum cleaners?
(Whew I think I have distracted her from the list)
At the prospect of vaccum cleaners I think this was the point she decided it was worth it to come and see for herself.
Fast forward to the next phone call
Me: Helo XYZ store
Lady: Hi I just bought a phone from your store and there is a light flasing and it wont stop.
(um ok a light flashing hmm)
Me: Do you have an awnsering service that is telling you that you have messages.
Lady: no we dont have one of those. Do you know why the light would be flashing?
(we sell like 20 gazillion different phones)
Me: No mam if there is something wrong with the phone you can bring it back to the store with the receipt.
(flashing lights hmmm sorry I cant help you! Actually I got the impression it was something probably coverd in the manual)
Fast forward to last call of the night. at 6:01 pm
Me: Hello XYZ store?
Guy: Hi what time do you close?
Me: About 60 seconds ago
Guy: oh darn do you think you could hold it open for me?
Me: no sorry the tills are all closed.
(the last guy is cashing out as we speak)
Guy: Oh well good night.
yeah by the time he drives over does his shopping and we leave it woud be 7:00
Apparently today I am tech support. Information and Can hold the store open for anyone after closing. Actually everyone that called was nice about it but sometimes we just cant do everything.
THE MOST PERPLEXING THING THAT HAPPEND TO ME YESTERDAY.
I was eating my lunch from Arbys yesterday. I looked at the wrapper of my roast beef sandwich and I saw there was some cheese on it. Now there is nothing strange about that the strange part of it was there was no cheese on my sandwich or any other part of my lunch for that matter. Now where did the cheese come from? I dont think I want to know.

Size 3 and Growing
I noticed something today. Ryans diaper seems to be fitting a little small. This may not seem to significant to most but I have been thinking that he would never need anything bigger then a size 3 diaper. It might just be the brand we bought (it is one we dont get often) or it could be that he is finaly starting to grow some hips! Size 4 watch out!!
Oh on a similar note I had Ryan weighed the other day, 22 pounds. He weigs one pound for every month of his life.

Thoughts At 12:42 AM
- What happens when you watch "West Wing" just before going to bed? Well when your 22 month old wakes up at midnight your half awake mind considders how this fits into his politcal agenda.
- Once you realize that it is a toddler not a politican you begin to think about how toddlerish politics is.
- You can always trust a bannana. As long as the color is right a bannana is always good. If it is over or under ripe or has bruises you can tell from the color of its skin. Not so easy to find a perfect peach or strawberry.
- To bad politicans arent more like bannanas.
- Hmm I cant wait for peach season. Mmmm peach cobbler.
- Planing on going on a little trip in may as a belated 5th anniversiary celebration. Daydreamed of going to Mexico but that will probably wait a couple of more years.
- Jon's Dad suggested a nice Bed and Breakfast in Canmore.
- I always thought Canmore was in BC but I guess it is just before Banff when traveling from Calgary.
- Time for my little "politican" to go back to bed.

Lessons in Toddlerese
Anyone who has a child who has not quite learned to talk yet knows that they have other methods of communication. It does not take full scentences to get one's point across.
For example if you find yourself in bed being woken up by a 22 month old hitting you in the head with a plastic plate. You can assume he means:
"Get out of bed lazy mom and get me something to eat already!!!"

Fart and go seek
We went to a white elephant gift exchange on saturday night and we ended up with a little device called "Sir Farts A Lot" It is a little unit with a remote control. You place the main unit somewhere for example under a couch cushion. The remote control causes it to set off a number of umm interesting noises, Im sure you get the picture. Well Breanna has learned a new game. One person takes the main unit and hides it. The other person uses the remote control to produce sound while trying to find the source. Hence Fart and go Seek. I dont know where she would have gotten the idea for this because sure was not from me. Really I would not encourage such behavior. Honest.

Thoughts on being a cashier, life and other things.
- If you come through my till it does not matter how many times you sigh it will not make things go any faster. If you want through quicker dont buy so much freakin stuff!
- It is funny how a guy you dont know calling you sweety can either totaly creep you out or it can make your day when you dont expect it.
- How can one person be so grumpy when the person beside them can be so cheerful.
- Rolo ice cream is good, but very rich. I can eat a big bowl of vanilla ice cream and strawberries but I can hardly polish off a 2 small scoops of rolo
- Im thankful for brothers who help me out when I need it or suprise me with ice cream and movie tickets because Im having a bad day.
- I can wear a santa hat at work all day but somehow when I say merry christmas it doesnt sound quite right yet. I just think I am in denial about how fast this year has gone.
- As 2005 comes to an end I am interested to see what 2006 brings for us. We dont know yet what will be happening as far as education and stuff past the end of this school year. As tough as it can be having Jon as a full time student it is exciting that there is lots of options in front of us. There is so much to look forward to. I will miss this time in our lives when it is past.
- I love my life, I love my family, I love my friends. I have so much to be grateful for.
